Clipping, Scissoring, Carding & Hand-Stripping

Clipping:

Most breeds are clipped, the legs & head are always trimmed using scissors. It is not possible to maintain any length of coat using clippers.

Scissoring:

To maintain a certain coat length for non shedding long coated breeds such as the Bichon Frisé, Maltese, Havanese, Bolognese and Lowchen scissor cutting is necessary. This can only be achieved on very regular appointments between 3 weeks and no more than 5 weeks.

Carding & Hand-Stripping:

Carding is a technique in which the soft downy undercoat is pulled or stripped from the dogs body.

Hand-Stripping is a technique in which the outer guard coat is plucked from the dog's skin, This procedure helps to promote the proper coat texture and rich colour of the breed.
