Ziggy

As its name suggests originates from Malta, thought to have been developed from crossing miniature spaniels with miniature poodles. Also related to the Bichon, Lowchen and Havanese, this lively, intelligent and fun loving little dog was carried in the sleeves of their mistresses in the days when they really did weigh only 2kg. Many of the Maltese bred these days are enormous in comparison although Ziggy pictured here is true to today's standard as he is a light weight bundle of fun.

White coat and black eyes, a striking combination. Often tied into a top-knot with a bow. The long silky non shedding coat needs lots of attention as it will easily become matted. Can be kept long and silky or clipped in a pet trim every 4 to 6 weeks.

This charming little dog makes a fabulous companion pet if you are looking for a Toy breed, they fit in around you and easily adapt to your lifestyle, after a nice walk and a bit of playing they will curl up on your lap for a lovely cuddle. Elizabeth Taylor owns a Maltese.
